Customer Review: I wish Amazon had a ZERO star rating

The first time I used this coffeemaker, water from the reservoir leaked all over the counter. I thought, "This thing is BRAND NEW!!! It couldn't possibly be useless alREADY!" No, it had to be my fault...I must have spilled water when I was filling the reservoir, and not noticed it at the time.
Cut to the next morning. This time I was VERY careful when filling the reservoir. Not one drop went on the counter!!! I'd stake my life on that. But somehow, a large puddle of water spread out from the bottom of the coffeemaker, all across the counter, as the coffee brewed...mocking me. I could hear it. HA HA! PACK ME UP AND RETURN ME TO AMAZON...SUCKER! MY TIME WITH YOU IS ALREADY DONE.
This is just one more in the long line of coffeemakers and percolators I've purchased or received as gifts in recent years that were total JUNK. Doesn't ANY company make a coffeemaker that lasts longer than it takes me to go through a pound of coffee? Is it a conspiracy among Dunkin Donuts, 7-11, and McDonald's to force me out of my house and through one of their doors for my morning fix? My husband keeps telling me, "Just buy Maxim!" Maybe he has a point.
Customer Review: Great coffee, but poor design

This coffee maker looks great and the coffee that it makes is good as well. It does have a few annoying design flaws, however.
1. The swing-out holder for the coffee filter does not close easily.
2. The inverted conical design of the carafe, while aesthetic, makes it difficult to pour the last bit of coffee, and
3. To remove the lid for washing you need to pull two little nibs on the lid out of a detented holder on the carafe body.
Finally after six years of infrequent use at my weekend home, the lid broke in two while removing the lid as in number 3 above. The little tab with the nubs separated completely from the lid. Based on reviews of the replacement carafe on Amazon, it seems like many others have had similar problems as well. I doubt if Super Glue will hold it together, but you can just place the lid on the carafe without the tabs and hold it in place while pouring. Maybe it's time to just switch brands.
Four stars for coffee taste, two stars for design = three stars overall.

This coffeemaker is definitely a low-end product. The swing-out filter basket retainer binds when swinging in and is difficult to
unlatch to swing out. The much touted "coffee bar" flavor leaves
much to be desired for anyone who loves good coffee.
