This coffee maker makes great coffee, is fairly easy to use, and is true red. However...when ordering they do not tell you that it uses a small charcoal type filter that needs to be replaced every month or two (depending on use) and that these filters are far from cheap!Customer Review: Best Coffeemaker to date

I have owned more than my share of coffeemakers and this Cuisinart DCC-1100 12 cup is the best by far. It brews very fast, stays hot and the taste is better than most. I recently purchased a Krups and in only five mo.the coating on the control buttons were peeling and I only use a damp cloth to clean the outside of the pot. The taste from the Krups pot also tasted like plastic. I would recommend this Cuisinart to anyone.Customer Review: Makes a nice brew

Pros: Makes great tasting, hot coffee. Like that it beeps to let you know your brew is ready.
Cons: Small water reservoir fill area really is an annoying design flaw. One shouldn't have to concentrate that hard to avoid water spillage! Condensation does build up under the lid of the machine and needs wiping out after each use.

I purchased this item mostly for the weekends that I'm not working so I can have a good cup of coffee. I've only had the opportunity to use it a couple times. I've used it on the 4 cup setting twice and it made a surprisingly good, strong cup of coffee. The perfect amount for my purposes. Making the full amount also produces a good cup of coffee. I like that it comes with a water filter, although they are rather expensive to replace and you have to order them online. The only two things I've found that I don't like, are the lid for the carafe has no hinge, so it has to be completely taken off to fill the carafe quickly. The lid of the unit also collects a significant amount of condensation which takes a very long time (days) to evaporate. I read all the reviews and after utter confusion and frustration went ahead and ordered this coffee maker.
I've had it a month and am quite satisfied with it. Particularly the temp of the coffee is steamy hot.
Used the programmable aspect once and had no problem with the instructions.The water reservoir which everyone complains about is a bit small but even in the wee hours of the morning I've had no trouble with it.
I love the red!
