first i will say that this product makes good coffee.
my problems are
1. cannot see water guage when i prefer making 6 cups. i just use the caraffe and fill water in it to 7 cup line. then pour it in.
2. coffee grounds get on top under lid so i make 10 max cups.
3. the product smells like stale coffee after a month of brewing so i brew vinegar and water to eliminate that.
i probably would not purchase this coffee maker as a gift for others because of the procedures above.
i have owned this product 3 years and it still brews perfect coffee. my friends say its as good as starbucks.

After going through several other coffee makers that have various problems, I've now had this one for about a year and a half and am very happy with it.
* It looks great (I have the DCC-1200BW model)
* The controls look retro-cool, yet are extremely easy to figure out and use (no more looking in the manual every time daylight savings time hits)
* It makes 12 cups, the perfect size in my opinion
* It never drips when pouring the coffee
* It's been 100% reliable with daily usage for 18 months
* Oh yeah, and the coffee tastes good too (depending what you put into it of course!)
I had almost given up on finding a decent coffee maker, but this one greatly exceeded my expectations.

I am pleased with this coffee maker because I liked the following features:
1- Easy to setup, program, clean and brew;
2- The water filter to remove the water calcium;
3- 1-4 cups button helping single guys to not waste coffee neither water
4- Heating plate to keep coffee warm
5- Auto shut off feature
6- Clean alarm (never tested yet)
7- Fast to brew coffee
It does a good job brewing delicious coffee, however there is room for improvements on:
1- The manual. It is very confusing and does not have many information;
2- It would be nice to have some more setup features such as how strong you want your coffee;
3- Thermal carafe instead glass.

My initial experience with this model was not worthy of 4 stars, but that was due to my own mishap. I did not properly place the carafe onto the hotplate for brewing and the mess that followed led me to returning the maker after only 3 uses. I shopped around, read reviews on amazon, looked at cunsumer reports, etc. I was frustrated that every review on every coffee maker had it's fair share of negative opinions. I decided to order a black and decker model that was rated very well in last year's consumer rep.... and it was very inexpensive. Wasn't hard to tell why it was so cheap upon receiving it. The coffee it made was not at all as good as I had hoped for. I've learned a lesson that a cone shaped filter is the only filter that produces excellent results, and the B&D machine had a flat bottom filter. Back to amazon it went... (what a great company you are!!). So, I decided to give the cuisinart another chance. My second attempt has left me VERY satisfied. I now am aware of how to properly place the carafe when brewing.. good idea to double check with your fingers after putting the carafe onto the hot plate. In very non-technical terms, after placing carafe onto hot plate, just feel the top of the carafe lid with your fingers to make sure the top and bottom bumps are lined up. The only negative about this pot is similar to what others have shared... the small and ackwardly placed water holder (in the back right). It is hard to see how much water you have poured depending on how the machine is sitting on your countertop.
I LOVE the quality of the coffee this pot produces. Far exceeds any other... and it is as HOT as I prefer (I like to add creamer). The programing parts work wonderfully and all of the functions are very easy to work. I highly reccommend this machine... take it from me... there will be negatives written about every coffee maker. But the positives in this one are worthy of a purchase (or a re-purchase in my case!).

I have always purchased less expensive coffee makers, and after having my latest under the counter model leak everytime I turned it on, I decided to try this Cuisinart model. First, it looks very attractive on the counter, as opposed to most plastic-y looking models. It is easy to clean,
and has many neat features. You can set it to brew while you sleep, it has a self clean button, and I love that you can control the carafe temperature. The bottom line, though, is that by controlling the heat, it makes a better cup of coffee than alot of home brewers. I'm glad I made this purchase!
