You probably paid extra for the cuisinart coffee maker because you like good coffee. This little charcoal filter is part of what makes it so good. This is a great product to ensure optimum tasty coffee from a great coffee maker!
The length of time between inserting new water filters in your machine will depend on the quality of your water. You will know when to change them, because your coffee will start to taste . . .not as good!
This product is easy to use, and the retailer I purchased it from had a good price for it.

Now that we can find a good deal through Amazon, I am happy to keep replacing these filters. We can taste a distinct difference when using them. (Although we have not tried a different brand - I do not know if one exists for our Cuisinart)
