This product does exactly what it is supposed to; it makes great paninis. Yes, it is a specialty item, it doesn't have a ton of other uses. I would not use this to cook a steak on. If you are looking for that, this is not your product. If you are looking to make a great toasted sandwhich, this is your machine. I never used to eat sandwhiches, in fact, I would say I despised them. However, despite my initial doubt that I would actually use it, I use it 2-3 times a week when I'm home for lunch. The bread toasts up nicely and clean-up is easy, just a wet washcloth once it cools down. It is sturdy and on thicker sandwhiches sometimes I add a little pressure to the handle to smoosh the thick bread a little. My only possible complaint is that sometimes on thicker sandwhiches the cheese won't melt. I won't complain that this one-purpose kitchen items takes too much space on my counter because I store it in my cabinets. Just let it cool down while eating your crispy panini, and when it's cool, the cord wraps neatly around the unit and it stores very compactly. I read reviews on several panini makers including this one. I decided on a cheaper one but then chose this one when it turned out the shipping cost for the cheaper one would make it the same price as this one with free shipping. What a wonderful machine this is! My family has used it at least once a day for the two weeks we've had it. I was worried it might be too small but it fits two sandwiches fine or else one giant sandwich. This is the best tasting "fast food" I've ever had at my own house. In minutes I am making delicious wraps and sandwiches with healthy, flavorful ingredients that are just as good as my favorite bakery and coffee shop panini sandwiches. The machine has already more than paid for itself by the money I have saved by choosing to eat at home instead of going out to find a tasty sandwich. A little cheese goes a long way and helps meld the flavors you can add. It inspires me to try new things and it makes me feel like a real cook when the flavors come together in such a simple and delicious package, almost like magic. It transforms leftovers as well. It's hard to imagine this simple panini press ever breaking. I suppose we will use it like crazy until the nonstick finish on the plates wears down or becomes uncleanable. Then I will upgrade to the more expensive version that has removable washable plates. Not that I'm complaining because as a first time experience with a panini press, this one exceeds my expectations and has enriched my life! Customer Review: My favorite kitchen appliance EVER@

I love this product. I've owned it for a year and think that I use it almost every day. We use it to make sandwhiches, grill veggie burgers, toast buns, heat up tortilla's, I think that we use it more then our microwave.
I agree it is a little difficult to clean (esp the stainless steal exterior), but to be honest that is its only downfall. I love it so much I'm going to order several to give as gifts for the holidays.

This panini grill has seen heavy use since I bought it about 2 months ago. I never used a panini grill before, but this grill couldn't be any easier to use. Yes, it does take up space, but its worth it. My family are all grilled cheese sandwich fans. The paninis coming out of this grill are unlike anything we ever produced on our stove with a built in griddle or from a skillet. I think the main difference is the crispness. I have even taken to grilling cheese alone on the grill, absolutely delicious- which brings me to the downside.....weight gain. Perhaps keeping the grill off the counter would slow down grill usage. If you're looking to purchase a grill, we've had no complaints with this one.
