It works as advertised, a multi-mode appliance far more versatile than a Foreman grill. The removable grilling plates make cleanup easy. I use ours mostly on the sear setting. It will cook a burger or a panini in about five minutes. Be careful not to close the lid too tightly. It will squash things. Also, make sure you grill on a flat surface or the grease can roll out the wrong side. Customer Review: BEST INDOOR GRILLE EVER

The Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler is an astounding product that I wish I had purchased a long time ago. It is a very unique indoor griller that totally exceeds expectations.
I was a diehard outdoor grill man with both charcoal and gas grills but with the weather we've experiance here in the Norhteast this Summer, it's been a 'crap shoot' to try to fire up an outdoor grill and not get rained on.
No need any more as the GR-4 does a great job indoors with out any mess, smoke or odors. The secret is to have the butcher cut all your steaks to the same width, fire up the Gridler, when ready put on the meat and then put it in the sear mode for a few minutes. This gets the outside crispy and then turn down the heat to cook them through to your desired doneness.
This is one of the best appliance investment I've ever made and the 'clean-up' is done in the dishwasher. Kudos to Cuisinart!

This product is one of the saddest miss-advertised items I ever made mistake of buying. Its low-power heat elements and low-mass aluminum griddle/panini plates make such a sad, weak and unsatisfying device you wouldn't believe. No matter how long you keep the weak device on MAX power, even through 2-3 cycles in hope of heating it through, it still packs no punch. As soon as you add the food into it, even if it is only a SINGLE chicken breast, its temperature dips well below 40% heat scale and has trouble heating back up for quite a while. That, in turn, ends up COOKING (NOT grilling) your food, extracting its juices and sadly bubbling away as if you were poaching, not grilling your food. Stay well clear from this device, it is a sad rip-off aimed at collecting your money while delivering a cheap, powerless and practically unusable crap. The Cuisinart Griddler is a great way to build the perfect panini, grill up some chicken breasts for dinner, fry up some eggs for the next days breakfast and reheat the leftovers from last nights dinner. The Griddler is very easy to use and comes ready to go out of the box with drips cups, a dishwasher safe scraping tool and four plates, to flat and two ridged. The two seperate styles of plates can turn the Griddler into a panini press, open grill, contact grill, or griddle.
The secret to a good panini is to toast the sandwich evenly top to bottom with even grill marks. The floating hinge on the Griddler is perfect for doing just that. When you press down on the top the lid swings into place. If you are building a large dagwood sandwich then you may have to manually adjust the lid to cover the sandwich, perhaps a heavier lid on future models will compensate for the manual adjustment. Even though you have to adjust the lid at times the end result is a perfectly grilled sandwich. Simply adjust the temperature controls to your specific needs and you are off and running!
The open griddle feature self levels the Griddler so you can cook bacon on one side and eggs on the other without combining them together on the same side. Every brekafast item is a snap from grilled ham to french toast, just remove the ridged plates and lock in the flat plates and you are ready to go. The easiest part of all is the fast clean up due to the high quality dishwasher safe non stick cooking plates. Food slides right off and if by chance some cheese or egg gets stuck on the plate, simply scrape it off with the dishwasher safe scraping tool or by placing in the dishwasher.
It's more versatile than a George Foreman Grill and is just as healthy by draining the grease away from your food, channeling it into the included grease drip cups. The convenient cord storage is great and keeps the cord out of the way and makes storage easy. If you're looking for a multi purpose panini grill that's easy to cleanup then this is the item for you. I just love my new panini press/griddle. It makes any sandwhich soo much better. I come up with a new creation every day. I recently used it at a bridal shower I was hosting and everyone just loved it!
