Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler

Customer Review: Quick and Easy
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great product - lightweight, easy to clean, versatile - and oh, yeah, it makes great sandwiches!

We've had fun experimenting with different items - right now, one of our favorites is to split a croissant. Spread both inner sides with Nutella. Slice a banana lengthwise and lay between the two croissant pieces. Just panini the croissant until warm - yum.

I like that the bottom of the appliance stays cool - I especially like that the plates can be put into the dishwasher, although they are so easy to wash that it's not usually necessary. The griddler is small enough to easily move around and yet big enough to handle enough food. We have lots of small appliances but this one gets used.

Customer Review: Great Product--Worth the Extra Money Over Foreman!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my beach condo which does not have a BBQ grill. I've grilled some delicious chicken, burgers, and steaks. The grilled vegetables have been to die for! It is so easy to use my HUSBAND used it!

The removable grill plates make clean up easier but not completely effortless. Even with non-stick spray, I have a bit of a time cleaning up, but it's been worth it.

I'm glad I spent the extra money and got this product.

Customer Review: Love the easy clean up!

The Griddler is awesome! I've used it to cook everything from bacon and eggs, to paninis. My husband and I eat a lot of grilled foods, but there is nothing worse than barbecuing in the rain. The griddler solves this problem -- it does burgers and chicken very well in about half the time.

The only problem I've had is that occasionally it appears as though the Griddler stops cooking. I haven't looked at the instruction manual to determine if this is a safety function. If I turn the heat up, it seems to kick back on, and then I lower the dial again immediately. It has not been a big problem, it just forces me to pay a bit more attention while using it.

The removable plates are my favorite part. I've owned a george forman grill and a GE Panini maker. I avoided using both because the cleanup often took longer than the cooking itself. This is not the case when I can pop off the plates, rinse them, and then throw them in the dishwasher!

I highly recommend the Griddler to anyone!

Customer Review: Great contact grill
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this grill for over three years, and it is still going strong. I have not had any problems with it at all after using it 2-3 times per week consistently. The panini grates are solid and the nonstick surface is still as good as new. The only negative point I can make is that it can be difficult to make flat contact with the top grate. Although the top grate is hinged, it still closes at an angle to larger sandwiches. My guess is that you'd have to pay 3 or 4 times more for a commercial panini press to alleviate that problem. The flat grates are a bonus and make a great griddle - I get perfectly consistent pancakes every time. I haven't had any problems with temperature consistency.

I thought that it was a fair deal when I bought it for $80 a few years back, but I've seen it around for $50 (Costco), which is a great deal.

Love it and use it regularly. I live alone and it's perfect for my small kitchen. Easy clean-up, too...
