I received this as a Christmas gift and loved it immediately. It cooks chicken quickly and evenly and gives it a pretty good "grill" taste. But after 3 months of using it 2-3 times a week, I heated it up one evening and the unit began to smoke below the grill pans and something then blew out, leaving an awful burn smell behind. It wouldn't work after that. A product like this should be able to be sturdy and dependable longer than 3 months! My other complaint is that it splatters grease everywhere while its cooking. I had to wipe off a layer of grease on my cabinets and counters after each use. One tip: it will not drain the fat off properly unless you tilt one back corner up with a little block or something similar. Otherwise it will leak out everywhere. It could have been designed better. Much smaller cooking surface than what I anticipated. Plan ahead when cooking because you will only be able to cook one large steak at a time. Good news is this thing is built like a brick outhouse. Does exactly what it says it will do and gets as hot as it says it will. Customer Review: nice but not well made

The product does a great job of grilling - but:
the bakolite type knobs chip,and
the grooves in the grill are not quite deep enough in that juices sometimes flow over the sides instead of into the drip cups.
I have just gotten to keeping it on a cookie sheet to eliminate spills on the counter.
It is a GREAT panini press - and a so so grill.

My mom asked me to buy this for her and dad. She was replacing her flat George Forman Grill. She loves it. They cook everything on it. Burgers, veggie burgers, steaks, veggies.
