I got this in the mail yesterday and immediately washed it and put the bowl in the freezer. The bowl was frozen solid within 12 hours. It comes with an instruction manual that is very easy to understand, then you flip it over and to the back and it's a recipe booklet. The vanilla ice cream recipe is really good and doesn't contain raw eggs, which was a huge plus for me, as I am disgusted by the idea of eating raw eggs, even in ice cream. As for the machine, it works great. It's a little loud, but not as loud as Rival Ice Cream Maker Bucket , that I use to have, and this one doesn't need rock salt or ice either, which was another huge plus for me. This ice cream maker is only 1.5 quarts, which is considerably smaller than the one I had. That was the only negative to this machine, but not that big of a deal considering how easy it is to use over and over again. I refrigerated the ice cream mix before putting it in the machine because I read somewhere, that it was a good thing to do. Other then that, I followed the instructions to a tee. I started the machine up prior to putting the mix in, then I added the mix through the opening in the top until it was filled, I then set my timer for 20 minutes and let it do it's magic. After 20 minutes, I looked at the ice cream and it looked a little thin, so I let it run for an additional 5 minutes. After that, it was the consistency of soft serve ice cream, which was perfect for us. I think I'm just going to store the bowl in the freezer so I can have ice cream on a whim since the manual says it may take 24 hours for the bowl to freeze solid. I love everything about this machine, including the gorgeous teal blue color. I highly recommend this ice cream maker over anything else I've tried. It's high quality and super easy to use, even for me.
