Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart Ice-45 Mix-It-In Soft-Serve 1-1/2-Quart Ice-Cream MakerCustomer Review: Disappointing Summary: 1 StarsWe received this as a Christmas gift and our kids were looking forward to making home made ice cream.
After freezing the bowl for 2 days we were never able to get the mixture to thicken at all.
We tried the freezers on both of our refrigerators but got nothing. Maybe if you have a deep freezer you can get it cold enough, but if you are counting on using your freezer in your fridge you'll be disappointed.
Customer Review: It ain't all of that ! Summary: 1 StarsI have never done this before on an item, but thought it might save someone the trouble of trying the item and being disapointed. I spent over $35 on materials and tried many times to make the different reciepts, in every case I only produced milk shakes. I even tried using three different home freezers to make sure the bowl was getting cold enough. I bought it for my 86 year old mother for one of her Christmas gifts, shame on me. Happy holidays and I would suggest that the company that makes this item think more of their name before they release an item like this.
Customer Review: Ice -45 Summary: 4 StarsWe thought this a great gift for our grandchildren. It was! The only thing said. 1. is it takes up space. 2. It has to be cleaned. This was not hard, I would have had the kids do it but our daughter has to do it all. As a guift it worked better than we thought.
Customer Review: Novelty only, not efficient or easy to use Summary: 2 StarsDifficult to use. Not fun for kids. Add-in feature does not work well. My children didn't enjoy this at all. They also did not like the taste and texture of the ice cream (used vanilla recipe only so far). Ice cream is too light and fluffy.
Customer Review: great ice cream, easy clean up Summary: 5 StarsI made strawberry ice cream with my three kids yesterday. It was a snap. The whole process, from start to clean-up, took about 25 minutes, and 15 minutes of that was the actual mixing process. The pieces removed easily and clean-up was a breeze. The recipe said to check the ice cream after 12-15 minutes, and I let it mix for 15 minutes. The consistency was very creamy - a little thick to come out of the "serve it spout" so we spooned it out. Next time I'll set the timer for the lower time frame, and I bet it will come out of the serve it spout.
I used the extra to make popscicles.
I have a freezer in the garage so I just keep my ice cream bowl out there (I also have a KRUPS ice cream maker that works great too.)
