Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart Ice-45 Mix-It-In Soft-Serve 1-1/2-Quart Ice-Cream Maker

Customer Review: Soft-Serve means hard to refuse!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have really enjoyed this product... The grandkids think it's even better!

Customer Review: Grandchildren love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the ice cream maker for my grandchildren for Christmas. They couldn't wait to get it home and use it. My daughter-in-law says they use it almost every day. It is so easy to use that the kids do it themselves. Any unused ice cream stores easily in the freezer. I would recommend it and would definitely buy another.

Customer Review: Great quality at reasonable price
Summary: 5 Stars

I was hesitant to spend a little extra to get a "good" machine. We have had many bad experiences with snow cone makers and Icee makers that were cheap and broke usually after the first few uses, so we decided to spend a little extra and get something that should be better - and it is. Easy to use and clean. Definitely worth a few extra shekels to get better quality.

Customer Review: Not Ready for Prime Time
Summary: 2 Stars

We received this unit as an Xmas gift, but I doubt we'll be getting much use out of it. It seems to have some pretty serious design flaws:

1. It takes about 20 minutes

2. To make 3-4 servings of ice cream

3. Which have to be dispensed within a very short window between "too soft" and "too hard"

4. It takes 24 hours to freeze the tub between uses

5. And it takes at least 20 minutes to clean all the parts afterward, particularly the main mixer blades -- which are not machine washable!

6. Last, it's too tall to fit under the kitchen cabinets, and too bulky to be easily stored away.

If someone brought me this machine for an evaluation before deciding whether to market it or not, I would have told them to keep working on the design some more.

Customer Review: Disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

We received this as a Christmas gift and our kids were looking forward to making home made ice cream.

After freezing the bowl for 2 days we were never able to get the mixture to thicken at all.

We tried the freezers on both of our refrigerators but got nothing. Maybe if you have a deep freezer you can get it cold enough, but if you are counting on using your freezer in your fridge you'll be disappointed.
