I am really disappointed with this coffee maker. I bought the machine to simplify my life. The grind feature sounded great because I'd have one less appliance on my counter. I thought it would speed up the coffee making process.
However:
1) You have to CLEAN the grinding part after EVERY use. If you don't, grinds get stuck in it and your next pot of coffee will be disgustingly weak because the grinds don't make it from the grinder to the basket. This does not make my life simpler. In fact it's harder because I have to remember to clean the dumb thing every night so the parts will be dry and ready to use the next day. Then I have to reassemble the machine in the morning and can't have it programmed to start automatically or ready to start at the push of a button. Boo!
2) The basket that holds the filter/grinds tends to randomly POP open while grinding the beans which causes the grinds to spill everywhere and not only ruins that pot of coffee but require a massive clean up of the machine (not to mention kitchen counter) before you can brew a new pot. This happens to me every 2 weeks or so and ruins my morning. It happened this morning so I haven't had coffee and maybe that's why I'm in a bad mood. It also causes my boyfriend to remind me that I was the one that bought this stupid coffee maker.
3) The grinding part doesn't hold enough beans for a 12 cup maker.
4) Removing the grinds / filter is always messy and just ticks me off. You have to remove the basket and the basket cover which is always covered in grinds and drips coffee everywhere. It's not conveniently located for easy removal of the filter / grinds like my previous coffee maker (non grinding model) was.
If you clean this thing daily and the basket doesn't spontaneously pop open while the coffee is being made, you will get a decent cup of coffee. But I would suggest a non-grinding model or a better designed grind and brew machine.
I will be giving my machine away to some unlucky soul as soon as I can get a replacement!

I bought this coffee maker to replace my Cuisinart stainless Grind&Brew. I thought my old Cuisinart was great but I love this model better! The coffee is much hotter and the carafe is easier to clean. I know it was a reconditioned model, but I have yet to see any problems. I would definitely recommend buying this item. I really like this Cuisinart grind and brew and the price was excellent. It is easy to clean up if you even use beans than other models I have had in the past. It is very modern looking and would go great in any kitchen. I like that it is easy to program and use. I am not big on buying anything factory-reconditioned- but since this is my 2nd grind'n brew,(used daily, sometimes twice)I burnt out the first one after almost 10 years(they are very fussy to clean)I thought I would take a chance, at half the cost and buy it factory re-conditioned- So far-coffee is great, works like a gem.
